Lending a helping hand

When we started our family business we decided we wanted to be ‘good guys’ and it’s important to us to be an ethical company; whether that’s always being honest and decent when completing jobs or striving to be a great employer to our staff we always want to do the right thing.

We don’t stop there, we are always finding ways to help our local community and share our success with those less fortunate, here’s a snapshot of some of the charity work we’ve been involved in:

Lewisham Youth Football Club

Our Senior Boiler Installation Engineer Andy Fordyce-Harvey not only has over thirty years of boiler installation experience, he is also a youth coach at Lewisham Youth Football Club. He asked us if we’d sponsor the 5-a-side team this season as they were in need of a new strip. We were happy to help and we’re eagerly awaiting the unveiling of their new strip. Keep an eye on our blog to find out how they get on this season!

Brixton Soup Kitchen

Last winter one of the members of our customer service team went to volunteer at Brixton Soup Kitchen a charity that helps homeless people and Londoners in need by providing free food, support and company.

She noticed it was pretty chilly and after helping serve food she went to help wash-up and was shocked when she had to boil the kettle to wash up as there was no hot running water. She went on to find out that there was no boiler, radiators or central heating infrastructure (pipework) in the property and that it wasn’t even connected to the gas supply. One of the founders of the charity explained to her that because the building was Grade II listed the cost of such a large job would likely be in excess of £10,000.

When she came into work the next day, she told the team about the Brixton Soup Kitchen’s plight and we all agreed that we would help. We decided to install the entire heating system, including pipework, radiators and a brand new ‘A’ rated boiler with SMART controlled heating free of charge. It wasn’t easy, because it was coming up to Christmas, which is our busiest time of year, so we had to turn down some paying jobs to get the installation complete by Christmas Eve.

We finished in time (phew) so we threw a little party on Christmas Eve and handed out gifts and items we’d collected in a donation drive.

Easter Egg Hunt

When our friends at the Brixton Soup Kitchen told us they were helping run a Community Give Back event for Easter and needed some Easter Eggs for the egg hunt we went out and bought enough chocolate to make Willy Wonker jealous!
