Boiler Installation Cost Piggy Bank

Boiler Installation Costs

Trying to understand the cost of replacing or installing a new boiler can be overwhelming. There are many things to consider when buying a new boiler.  Firstly, there is the type of boiler itself to think about. Regular? Combination? Replacing an old back boiler? Perhaps you’re looking to install a whole new central heating system? On top of this, there are maintenance considerations such as warranty, life expectancy and energy efficiency – all which can contribute to the total cost of your new boiler installation. Depending on the price range you’re looking for, you might want to go with a highly rated boiler brand.

Don’t worry, at LS1 Boiler Installation we believe in making things as easy for you as possible. Below, we have summarised the key things to think about when considering the total installation costs. Supply and Fit?

To get things started, you want to consider how you will locate the right boiler and who will install it for you. Finding an installer who will include both within their quote is a great stress-free option. At LS1, we will handle everything for you. We work with the best brands, including being a Worcester Bosch Diamond Installer and Vaillant approved. We will determine the right and most efficient boiler for you and your home, ensuring everything is installed properly and continuing support after it is installed. Find out more about our Boiler Installation services here.

On the other hand, you may want to go directly to a manufacturer and find an installer separately. This may mean getting the boiler cheaper, however it will then mean looking for someone to fit it. It is important in this case to make sure you use a Gas Safe Registered engineer, which may be difficult to find if they haven’t supplied it themselves.

Costs of Different Boiler Types

Regular Boilers

Regular boilers are your most basic type of boiler – heat only systems where the heating is provided by your boiler and you have a separate cylinder for hot water. There are 2 main considerations:

  • Replacing a regular boiler in the same location: Approx. £1,700
  • Replacing a regular boiler in a new location: Approx. £2,000

* Savings of installing a new regular boiler *

  • More efficient = cheaper bills!
  • More reliable = a warmer and comfortable home.
  • More energy efficient = greater value and a more attractive home to buyers.
  • Less carbon emissions = helping the environment.

Combination Boilers

A Combination boiler is one of the most popular boilers to install. It does not have a separate hot water cylinder – the heating and hot water is all part of one system (a combination). Not only does this keep costs down, but it is compact, quick to install and very easy to use!

  • Replacing a combi boiler in the same location: Approx. £1,900
  • Replacing a combi boiler in a new location: Approx. £2,500
  • Replacing a regular boiler with a combi boiler: Approx. £2,900

* Savings of installing a new combi boiler *

  • Reduced energy bills
  • Compact design with everything in one place
  • Easy to install and run
  • No large storage cylinder for hot water
  • Easy to use controls
  • Low carbon emissions

Back Boiler Replacement

Back boilers are another form of heat only boilers, however it is no longer possible to install them as they do not meet minimum efficiency standards. They are old systems used in the fireplaces of 1960/70s homes.

  • Replacing a back boiler with a regular boiler: Approx. £2,600
  • Replacing a back boiler with a combi boiler: Approx. £2,900

Central Heating System

Alternatively, you might want to consider having a full heating system installed – e.g. the boiler, thermostat and radiators. The cost here will also largely depend on the size of your house, the flue kit, pipework and thermostat system used. Find out more information on this on our Central Heating page. Costs for standard, mid-range installations include:

  • 1 bedroom: £3,400
  • 3 bedrooms: £4,200
  • 5 bedrooms: £5,400

Additional Costs

Once you have decided on the type of system you are installing, there are a few additional factors to consider.

Finance Options

Installing a new boiler can be very expensive, there’s no denying it. There are many options you can consider to make it more manageable however, you need to be careful about any sneaky add-ons such as interest rates or limited after-care. At LS1 we understand that needing a new boiler may mean sudden costs that you might not be able to afford in one payment. We’ve put together a range of flexible finance options that will help spread the cost of this investment over a period of time that works for you. We offer an interest-free finance for up to 2 years, or a ‘buy now, pay later’ scheme with 0% APR if paid within a year. Alternatively, you can spread the cost from as little as £9/month – we’ve made sure there is an option for everyone’s budget. We have flexible finance options to make boiler replacements easier.

Warranty & After-Sales Care

Another area to consider is how long you will be covered, for any boiler fall-backs along the way. You definitely don’t want to spend a huge initial sum on a boiler, then face another bill if it breaks 6 months down the line. Depending on the installation service you go for, warranties typically range from 2 – 10 years and after-sales care can vary considerably too from great ongoing support, to limited cover and high costs of repair. At LS1, we are so confident with the level of our skill and workmanship, we can offer a huge 12-year warranty alongside a FREE 24/7 breakdown cover.
