A family at home after finding the best new boiler deal.

We understand how difficult it has become to determine the best boiler deal, when there are so many offers, boiler brands, installers and differing advice flying around. Often, what seems like the best value boiler offer at first, may well turn out to be the most expensive in the long-run. Quick fixes and cheap boilers often lead to endless faults, replacements and energy costs.

Do you want to make sure you are getting the right deal for your boiler? We have summarised a few points to consider below.

1) A Gas Safe Registered Engineer

Firstly it’s so important to ensure your new boiler is installed by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. Installing a new boiler is not an easy task and needs to be done properly by experienced and qualified engineers. Please do not take any shortcuts here, it will only cause problems further down the line! We recommend doing your research and speaking to an installer with 5 star customer reviews (make sure there are enough reviews here to rely on and not just 1 from the company itself…) TrustPilot and Checkatrade are great sources for reliable feedback. You can check if an engineer is gas safe registered on the official website.

 2) Again… no shortcuts!

A quick fix from a cheap handyman down the road may seem very appealing, especially in an emergency in the middle of winter, but you are more than likely going to be back in the same position a couple of months later… with more damage to pay for than at first. Your boiler is a long term investment, so don’t just think about the now and try to plan your ££’s over a period of 10 years.

3) Finding the right boiler type for your home

The next step is deciding which type of boiler is right for you. A Combi boiler is one of the most popular boilers to install. It doesn’t have a separate hot water cylinder – the heating and hot water is all part of one system within one unit (a combination). However, system boilers may be more suitable for larger homes with a greater water demand. Alternatively, you might want to consider having a full heating system installed – e.g. the boiler, thermostat and radiators. We have summarised the main advantages of the various boiler types, including the average cost you can expect to pay for each.

Size is also an important consideration (kW output) – less reputable installers may try to sell you a larger sized boiler to maximise profit. It is important to make sure the size of your boiler reflects the size of your home and your needs – the number bathrooms, bedrooms and radiators.

4)  After-sales service

The service of your selected installer should not be complete once the boiler is up and running. What happens if there is a fault 2 years down the line? How do you ensure your boiler keeps running smoothly? An after-sales service is a huge part of the deal – boilers should be serviced on a yearly basis to prevent any minor faults spiralling into serious problems. Boilers should have a good warranty duration – another key decision factor to compare across a number of quotes. At LS1 we promise our service is conducted to the highest quality, meaning we can offer the longest warranties in London.

 5)  Compare quotes

Finally, we recommend getting a number of quotes from recommended installers and comparing what they can offer – in terms of price, payment terms, quality, warranty and after-sales service. At LS1, we are so confident in the all-round value of our service, we can offer a price-match guarantee on all of our quotes. If you find a better like-for-like quote elsewhere, we will match it and offer a £50 high street voucher. Get in touch with our team for an instant, personalised, fixed-price quote today.
